RV DOG FENCE SYSTEM - OUTDOOR
We purchased this pet fence in 2021. It is much lighter than our first system, and works better for our small dogs.
We purchased this pet fence in 2019, but realized we did not need something quite so heavy/sturdy. If you have bigger dogs, this might be good for you.
BABY GATES & RV DOOR SCREENS: OUR INTERIOR FENCE SYSTEM!
We position this baby gate near the stairs between our kitchen slide and our cab “wing wall” near the door to prevent the dogs from escaping when we use the door. One of our puppies tried to eat the master electric switch near the door too so this gates keeps them away from that as well.
One of our four-legged kids tore through the wire screen on our RV door. These replacement screens are made of metal so future escapes should be minimized. We used the LIppert screen on our Greyhawk and upgraded to the Safoner screen in our Accolade.
PET SAFETY
Safety first! We can turn our dinette into a bed, and then use these seat belts to clip all of the pups into that area during travel days. We have tried both brands, and both work similarly.
Pet Monitoring Devices
(1) RV Temperature Monitoring Devices
Govee (Wi-Fi Based)
We use the Govee to monitor the temperature of the RV (and the dogs) when we are away from the RV. The app will tell you when it last updated so we know it is working. The Govee uses wifi so if the power goes out, it will not work. That is why we have the MarCELL as a back-up. Check out blog and our video in HOT HOT Oklahoma where we learned this the hard way.
MarCELL (Cellular-Based)
This MarCELL Pro device will send us a text message and email if the temperature exceeds a preset limit or the power goes out. We use this to supplement the Govee. There is a small annual subcription for this service, which we gladly pay for our peace of mind.
(2) Security Cameras in the RV
We use these ReoLink security cameras to monitor the dogs (and the RV) while we are away from the campground. We can check on them in real-time, and we can also set the devices to record activity. We have several cameras strategically placed throughout the RV.
BARKING AND NOISE CONTROL IN THE RV
White Noise Machine
Whenever we are away from the RV, we usually turn this white noise machine on. It helps keep our dogs from hearing campground noises so they bark less. No one likes barky dogs, especially campground neighbors.
Ultrasonic Sound Emitter
We occasionally use this ultrasonic device to help the dogs stop barking when we are away from the RV. Dogs tend to get used to the sound and then stop responding to it. Thus, we’ve learned that it is best to use the ultrasonic device every now and then and not every time we leave the RV.
Ultrasonic Sound (Portable)
We also picked up this portable ultrasonic device to help deter barking. We don’t use it all of the time because the dogs seem to acclimate to the sound.
Barck Collar
We have a couple of yappers. This collar emits a beep and does not shock.
DOG CLEANING AND WASTE CONTROL
Poop Bags
With five dogs, we purchase poop bags in bulk!
Vacuum for Dog Hair
With a light at the end, this vacuum makes seeing pet hair and other debris easy. Its the best vacuum we have ever owned!
Dog Bowl Mat
We use this mat underneath the dog bowls.
Doggie Diapers
When we were potty training Earl and Earlene, these diapers were great. Sometimes, accidents happen. Enough said.
TREAT YOURSELF (OR AT LEAST THE DOGS)!
Yak Chews
Thes yak cheese treats keep our dogs occupied for hours! The are good distractions on travel days…OR when we just want some peace and quiet.
Antler Chews
Another dog favorite are these antler chews. They are expensive, but we like them because they are LONG LASTING.
Training Treats
These treats are only 3 calories each so they are great for training the dogs.
Calming Treats
Our dogs tend to get a little anxious during travel days. These treats seem to help.
Nylabones
Nylabones are a Broad Squad favorite.
Kongs
We own 5 Kongs because each dog deserves their own. Just put a little peanut butter inside a Kong, and they are all happy!
Food Puzzles
Billie figured out this food puzzle very quickly! The other dogs didn’t understand how to play the game. We ended up giving it to a friend, and their dogs love it!
Dental Chews
Let’s face it. As much as we love our dogs, sometimes they have stinky breath. These are the best things we’ve found to help with that (aside from a trip to the vet for a dental cleaning).
Pro TiP: Be sure and count the number bones and chew toys you give to your dogs, and then make sure you have the same number on travel day! We tripple check to make sure none are underneath the slides.
Interactive Hide-and-Seek Toys
These interactive hide-and-seek dog toys are super cute and also a big hit with the dogs. HOWEVER, neither the ZippyPaws nor Pet Craft brand is very durable. If you know of a company that makes dog toys like that that will last more than a week, please let us know.
PET HEALTH
Dog Medicines
We keep basic medicines, like flea and tick preventive, on hand.
Dog Collars with Contact & Health Information
All of our dogs are microchipped, and they also all have collars with our contact information. We also state on Percy’s dog collar that he is diabetic. No, “Diabetic” is not Percy’s middle name.
Pet Water Fountain
Some friends gave us this water fountain, and we like it because the filter helps keep their water bowl clean. The water fountain says it is for “cats” though. Don’t tell our pack that they are drinking from a kitty fountain!
LOOKING GOOD!
Puffer Jackets
Leashes and Harnesses
This harness is adjustable so it fits most of our dogs.
Our Brodie was a special barrel chested little man, and this little harness seems to fit him better than others we’ve tried.
Since we have SO MANY dogs, this double leash comes in handy.
This “gentle leader” leash is great for training Earl and Earlene (who still act like puppies).
